World Liberty Financial Blacklists Over 270 Wallets, Including Justin Sun’s, Amid Scrutiny
World Liberty Financial (WLFI), the DeFi project associated with former U.S. President Donald Trump, has blacklisted more than 270 wallet addresses since its trading debut on September 1. The move includes a wallet linked to TRON founder Justin Sun, who publicly criticized the action as potentially damaging to confidence in the project.
Galaxy researcher Zach Pokorny reported that 272 addresses were blocked within WLFI's first week. Initial restrictions appeared tied to pre-launch KYC checks, while recent actions remain unexplained. The project claims the blocklist targets wallets compromised before launch to prevent theft from its Lockbox system.
The controversy comes as WLFI faces heightened scrutiny due to its political connections. Sun's warning highlights growing tensions between DeFi transparency and centralized control mechanisms in politically sensitive projects.
